We're more than just a thrift store
We continue to provide food, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance to over 500 infants, children, and adults each month. Learn how you can make a difference in our community through volunteer efforts and donations.
HOME VISITS
Relationships are key. Volunteers meet with neighbors in their homes. Neighbors tell us their story against the background of their home and neighborhood. Volunteers more fully assess their needs and how we can help. In 2016, 36 % of Dubuque county households sought ways to fill gaps in food supplies, rent/utilities, and transportation costs. (ALICE Project, United Way).
VOUCHER CENTER
Once neighbors have met with volunteers, they are invited to the Voucher Center on Iowa Street. There, neighbors connect with another volunteer who helps them pick out the items that include food, clothing, hygiene products, household necessities, and furniture. We can also help with rental assistance and utility payments. These home- less prevention dollars are becoming more critical in our community!
